Tips and Tricks to Help Test Taking Become a Breeze

Tips and Tricks to Help Test Taking Become a Breeze

As we all commonly know, Regents weeks can be a very stressful time. With multiple exams and hard tests, you may be sitting and thinking, “I can’t go on!” Today we will be sharing with you different studying tips and tricks as well as ways to help focus during these trying times.

Tips and Tricks:

Just reading the material is not studying it. Studies show “Simply reading and re-reading texts or notes is not actively engaging in the material.”(learningcenter). This means that re-reading your material does not help retain the memory for the test. Best option is to create fun puzzles or write out each problem by hand. If there is no time however, simply scribbling on a piece of paper while reading over notes is found to help retain memory better that just reading alone.

Take breaks, Nothing good comes from over exhaustion. By taking brain breaks and moments to move and think of other things, help your brain focus more on the subjects you are studying. Higher focus rates help retain and recite knowledge studied.

Silent studying isn’t always the best option. Many times, going to a place with mild background noise can help you lock into what you are reading or studying. The background noise acts as a white noise helping calm down your brain.

Teach someone else the material. If you are able to teach it to someone in a way they can understand the materials, it helps to dull down the information studies. By breaking it down, you are able to actually understand the information even more clearly.

Most importantly, take your time and read through everything when testing. When you take your time you focus your brain on slowing and understanding what you are reading and what the question is asking you.

You got this! Study however you think will work best and remember that It is just a test, so do not worry and you will do great! Good luck!
